PIERCING POLICIES

We know, rules are one of the last things you want to think about when you are thinking about your next piercing.  But at Anchors End, we follow a few important rules that ensure your safety and guarantee we provide you the highest quality experience.  It is supremely important to us that we adhere to all these rules all the time, and we want to share them so you know the drill.  If any of these don’t make sense or you want to know more, just give us a call or stop by, we are always happy to educate our clients.

There are some basic rules that all good studios follow.  Here is the least-you-need-to know and below are the details.

Least you need to know:

We offer piercings for people as young as 16 with a parent present, both must have proper identification.
You must present a valid ID before we can pierce you.
Our studio adheres to the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
We do not pierce anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Read on, detail-seekers!

Age Requirements

Generally speaking, we can pierce any adult over the age of 18 with a valid ID (see below).

However, we also pierce people ages 16 to 18 with one parent or guardian present who also has a valid ID. Piercing minors without parental consent is illegal. We do not do nipple or genital piercings on any minor (consent or not). If you are the legal guardian of a minor, you must show documentation that proves legal guardianship.  If your last name is different from the minor’s last name, you must also show proof of the relationship.

We are sorry, but we are unable to pierce anyone under the age of 16 or those without valid ID.  This policy is intended to keep everyone safe-- minors, parents, and the studio.

Identification Requirements

In order to get a piercing at Anchors End, we need to see some ID.  It’s the law.  Your identification must be current (not expired) and you must present it at the beginning of your appointment.  Acceptable forms of valid ID include:
     - State-issued driver’s license or state-issued identification card
     - Resident alien card
     - Passport
     - Military identification card

If your ID is expired or clipped, you must bring in the renewal papers, in accordance with state law.  So don’t leave home without your ID!

For clients aged 16 to 18, a parent must be present at the time of your piercing.  They must also have their valid ID (one of the types above).

Sterilization and Infection control

Cleanliness is our top priority when it comes to offering excellent piercings.  We are rigorous and relentless in our adherence to the highest standards of hygiene and infection control.

Whenever possible, the materials and equipment involved in the piercing process is single use and disposable.  That means it was brand new, never used and sterilized when used on you and then it is disposed of in a Sharps container immediately after your piercing.  This includes piercing needles.

A few pieces of equipment that may need to be reused and is always first disinfected using a high-quality disinfectant, processed through an ultrasonic-cleaner, placed in a sterilization pouch and processed in an steam autoclave sterilizer.  These sterilizers are the same ones used in hospitals and other medical offices to sterilize equipment.

We also disinfect our piercing room each day and all work surfaces between every client.  Rest assured we take every precaution to ensure that your piercing is done in the cleanest and safest environment possible.

Drugs and Alcohol

Would you want your piercer to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol?  We didn’t think so.  Our piercers feel the same!  While it might seem like a great idea to get drunk or high and come in for a piercing, it’s actually not a great idea.  This can pose serious risks to you, to our staff and to innocent bystanders (god knows what you’ll do!).  It’s also illegal to pierce anyone who is believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who is thought to be under the influence.  We’d be happy to welcome you back to Anchors End when you are sober.
